Barcelona have the chance to complete a perfect home record in LaLiga with their two remaining matches at the Camp Nou. No team has achieved a full sweep of home victories in a 20-team league, with the last side to win all their home games being Real Madrid’s ‘Quinta del Buitre’ in the 1985-86 season.
The Catalan club are already preparing to celebrate the 2025-26 league title, which could happen this Sunday at the Camp Nou against eternal rivals Real Madrid. A draw would be enough for the Blaugrana to mathematically clinch the championship.
However, that is not the only challenge facing Hansi Flick’s side in the final stretch of the season. They are just two wins away from securing a perfect home record this campaign, something no club has achieved since the league expanded to 20 teams.
The last team to win all their home matches in a league season was Real Madrid’s ‘Quinta del Buitre’ in 1985-86. Here are the teams that have accomplished this feat throughout history:
– Sevilla, 1956-57: 15 wins
– Barcelona, 1958-59: 15 wins
– Real Madrid, 1959-60: 15 wins
– Barcelona, 1959-60: 15 wins
– Real Madrid, 1952-53: 15 wins
– Real Madrid, 1985-86: 17 wins
– Barcelona, 2025-26: 17 wins*
*Data from the 1950-51 season onward, with a minimum of 16 teams (15 home matches).
**Season still in progress.
Only one precedent in Europe’s top leagues in the 21st century
Barcelona would also make history among Europe’s major leagues. Only Juventus in 2013-14 managed a perfect home record in the 21st century. The ‘Vecchia Signora’ remains the only Italian side to have won all their home games (data from 1928-29, with at least 16 teams and 15 home matches).
In France, only Saint-Étienne in 1974-75 achieved this, with 19 wins (data from 1934-35, minimum 16 teams). Notably, no English club has ever achieved a perfect home record, though several came within one win: Chelsea (18 of 19 in 2005-06), Manchester United (18 of 19 in 2010-11), Manchester City (18 of 19 in 2011-12 and 2018-19), and Liverpool (18 of 19 in 2019-20).
No team has managed a full home sweep in Germany either. The closest were Schalke 04 in 1971-72 (16 of 17), Bayern Munich in 1972-73 (16 of 17), and Wolfsburg in 2008-09 (16 of 17) – data from 1963-64.
Flick’s Barça approaching Guardiola and Vilanova eras
This is not new territory for Barcelona, as the Blaugrana have frequently been the team with the most wins in a Primera División season and feature in the top 10 of Europe’s five major leagues.
Hansi Flick’s side has a new record in their hands and could stand alongside the club’s greatest seasons. With just one more home win, they will match the 18 home victories of Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona in 2009-10 and surpass the 2011-12 campaign. They would also equal the home record of Tito Vilanova’s team in 2012-13.
