Legendary England striker Michael Owen will make a special appearance at Guangzhou’s Yuexiushan Stadium on May 17 to watch a Guangdong Super League match, according to reports.
The 2001 Ballon d’Or winner will attend as part of his role as “Haobo City Football Ambassador” and “Haobo S600 Recommender,” arriving at the stadium in the newly unveiled Haobo S600 car. The vehicle is set to begin pre-sales on the same day.

Organizers confirmed that Owen will participate in a fan meet-and-greet event, interact with Chinese supporters, and perform the ceremonial kick-off before the match. The fixture, scheduled for 19:30 local time, will see Guangzhou take on Maoming in the third round of the Guangdong Super League.
Owen, who famously scored for England against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup, retired from professional football in 2013 after a career that included stints at Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Stoke City. His visit marks a rare opportunity for local fans to see the former Reds icon in person.
