Australia’s U-17 women’s team and Japan’s U-17 women’s team have become the first sides to qualify for the 2026 U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, following their victories in the quarterfinals of the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup on May 11, 2026.
The Matildas’ junior squad defeated Vietnam 2-0 at the Suzhou Sports Center Stadium, scoring two goals within three minutes in the first half to seal the win. In the other quarterfinal match, Japan edged past South Korea with a 1-0 victory, courtesy of a goal in the 74th minute.
China’s U-17 women’s team will face India later on May 11 at 19:30 Beijing time, with the winner also securing a spot in the U-17 Women’s World Cup.
