Dynamo Moscow coach Yuri Zhirkov has shed light on the decision to start goalkeeper Andrey Lunev in the 29th round of the 2025/26 Russian Premier League against Krasnodar. The White-Blues emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline, with Lunev delivering several key saves.
The match, held on May 11, 2026 (20:00 MSK), saw Dynamo come from behind. Krasnodar took the lead through Costa in the 32nd minute, but Tyukavin equalized in the 48th, and Sergeev netted the winner deep into stoppage time (90+3′).

Asked about Lunev’s inclusion following criticism after a cup match where he failed to save penalties, Zhirkov said: “Andrey played a solid game in Krasnodar and fully deserved to start today. As for the penalty shootout, they say it’s a lottery. Unfortunately, he couldn’t stop any, though he came very close.” The comments were reported on the official Dynamo Moscow website.
This season, the 34-year-old Lunev has made 17 appearances, conceding 20 goals and keeping four clean sheets.
