At the Asian Under-15 Boxing Championships in Tashkent, six Indian boxers powered their way into the finals, while seven others earned bronze medals after losing their semifinal bouts.
In the 33 kg semifinal, Yash Kumar dominated with a 5-0 victory over Kiyan Iqbal of the UAE. Sastha Vasanth Ashok Kumar defeated Aziretali Sanzharbekov of Kyrgyzstan in the 37 kg category. Samir Bohra claimed a 4-1 win against Adizbek Ilkhombekov of Uzbekistan in the 43 kg division. Sudarsan Vasudeva Chandak secured an RSC win over Iran’s Amirmahdi Shad in the 52 kg bout. Mohd Yasser outclassed Seyyedariyamohammad Mousa of Iran with a unanimous 5-0 decision in the 58 kg category. Ronak Parag Lokhande completed the Indian charge with an RSC victory over Mukhammadali Berdikulov of Kyrgyzstan in the 67 kg weight class.
However, Rohit Pothina, Nitin, Nongpoknganba Meitei Oina, Parshant, Harshvardhan Jeena, Dev, and Sushant Jayani fell short in their respective semifinal contests, settling for bronze medals.
The six Indian finalists will now aim for gold in their respective weight divisions.
